22-1.
First the unpleasant, commercial stuff :
Everyone who wishes to be put on a mailing-list regarding the progress of 3DTop or wants to be notified when the next version of 3DTop is available for purchase, send a mail to sales@3dtop.com with the word 'subscribe' as the subject. If you don't want to do that you can always wait until www.3dtop.com is open for business or read about it somewhere else. This home-page will not be updated anymore.
Now, for the pleasant stuff:
Everyone who has sent in comments, criticism etc. last 2 weeks will receive free updates of 3DTop, the coming year. Thanks !
In the meantime you can enjoy the final, free, January1999-version of 3DTop, which solves some minor problems :
- The Bug! concerning deleting an item with another item attached to it has been fixed.
- If you use the control-key to rotate an icon and let the control key go but keep the mouse depressed it will not cause the icon to suddenly jump a bit.
- Selection of icons with certain types of beta-opengl-drivers is now OK.
Windows 95/98 issues:
- Some static "noise" in icons or small white lines around text should now be gone.
- Paintings that appeared black should now always have the corresponding bitmaps inside them.
- On exit of 3DTop, after you've chosen a painting with the file-selector-box, an error would appear with Windows 95 and 98. This is now solved.
Please download the final one of our home-page.

15-1.
It looks like we're definitely going on with 3DTop ! But a small price for our future efforts is necessary ofcourse. Small, because we can not decently ask a lot of money for a program that has a size of 128KByte! Until now the work involved wasn't too much, like the motto of my mathematics-teacher:
A good student is a lazy student, it's the student that can accomplish the most with the least amount of work.
Next week we will draw the conclusions of the study (in private ofcourse). Then we will also publish the final study-version of 3DTop and commercial stuff.

- If you're using the beta-opengl-icd-driver of Matrox for the G200 you might wanna try this special version of 3DTop to get rid of some icon-selection-problems: N/A anymore.

13-1.
A bug ! Someone found the bug!
In general, do not delete something that has an editing-item attached to it. 3DTop forgets to delete the attached item.
In detail, do not delete a light when a colorcube or focuschooser is attached to it, and do not delete a clock when the alarm-time-chooser is attached to it.

11-1.
- from 0 on Wednesday, to 118 Mbytes of 3dtop downloads a day on Thursday! Not bad!

- No new problems on the 3DChip-front reported. Only one 3DChip/driver apparently still refuses to work.

9-1.
- Reports are coming in that the Riva 128 works excellent also.

- Someone already hit the built-in 200-icons limit! Yes, at the moment an internal limit of 200 icons is maintained inside 3DTop.

- Good news for all TNT-users out there, the text-problem is solved ! Download a special version of 3DTop for TNT-users-only: N/A anymore.
The next release of 3DTop will automatically switch to TNT-mode if necessary, so the need for a special version will then be gone.

8-1.Well, things are getting underway. As expected we're getting a lot of doeswork/doesn'twork/doesworkbut and very encouraging
compliments. So, thanks to you all. We'll do our best to make a desktop that everybody can enjoy no matter what system you're using. But to illustrate:
You are using a computer that probably has components gathered from all parts of the world and is assembled in another remote part of the world and when put together it works !
You are using a piece of software of us, Vimana BV, a company from The Netherlands, of all places, that sits on top of an operating system of another company and uses a graphical standard that this company licensed from another company.
And it works!
On top of that, the original advantage of the operating system like compatibility, and open hardware-standards sometimes turns into a disadvantage when many different hardware-manufacturers make hardware that is supposed to accelerate the graphical standard developed by the company who licensed it to the operating-system-company (oeff).
And it works!
In the meantime, everybody wants to earn money, in the fastest way possible.
So you wonder, how it can work at all.
You'll have to compliment the standard-designer, the operating-system-designer, the computer-hardware-designer-manufacturer and the graphical-accelerator-designer-and-manufacturer.
But nothing is perfect.

3DTop will work with Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT4.0 with service-packs 1 through 4.
Software-OpenGL-mode always works.
We are still gathering info about what video-accelerators will work, for now, the accelerators mentioned on our home-page work excellently.
